FAQs
What is a subluxation?
The medical definition of a subluxation is “Any mechanical impediment to nerve function; originally, a vertebral displacement believed to impair nerve function.” subluxation.
A subluxation occurs when a bone shifts out of proper alignment creating abnormal pressure or tension on the surrounding nerves, causing a variety of symptoms, including pain, in the affected area. Dr. Steven and Dr. Christa are both highly skilled at identifying and removing subluxations to allow your body to return to its optimal state of well-being.
How safe is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a highly safe practice with generally no side effects when performed properly. Muscle soreness in the area of adjustment is not uncommon as your body returns to its natural alignment. The amount of force used to adjust an individual is not strong enough to break a bone, except in extremely rare cases where severe bone degeneration is present. Any such potential circumstances would be discussed upon review of your health history before any adjustment was to take place.
You can be confident that the Doctors at Tall Pines Chiropractic will make your well-being their first priority and do everything they can to make you feel as comfortable as possible during your time at our clinic!
Does Chiropractic only help back and neck pain?
No! Whilst neck and back pain are the most common reasons to seek chiropractic care, chiropractic treatment may help relieve symptoms from ailments such as vertigo, shoulder injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and headaches.
Can I be adjusted while pregnant?
Absolutely! Regular chiropractic adjustments while pregnant can relieve low back and hip pain and pressure as well as help to properly position the baby inside the uterus for birth. Dr. Steven also recommends checking your newborn for neck impingements that can arise due to trauma from the birth process.
Is Chiropractic OK for children?
Yes! Chiropractic is safe for children of all ages. By removing nerve impingements and correcting spinal alignment children can receive all the benefits adults receive and more from an adjustment. While your child is developing, any interference with the central nervous system can have life-long effects. By having your child checked for subluxations you are helping to create the best possible scenario for them to grow and develop properly.
